
GEORGE POCOCK ROWING FOUNDATION (GPRF) | |
GPRF works to eliminate the barriers to accessing water sports many people face and create opportunities for every person in our community to get out on the water. Since the foundation’s inception in 1996, thousands of adults and young people have participated in a variety of innovative rowing experiences. In 2008, GPRF dedicated itself to the development of the Rainier Valley Rowing program, the very first ongoing, access-based, co-ed rowing program in the country. | ![]() |
MT. BAKER BOATING ADVISORY COUNCIL (BAC) | |
The BAC is a volunteer organization that offers direction and feedback to the Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center. Their mission is to provide safe, quality, small-craft recreation programs for youth and adults and to operate year-round instructional boating programs from beginning levels through competitive, with an emphasis of fitness, safety, and fun. | ![]() |
SEATTLE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION | |
Seattle Parks and Recreation is dedicated to providing recreational opportunities and green space to all of Seattle’s residents. Multiple facilities have come together to help make Rainier Valley Rowing possible including the Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, Rainier Community Center, and Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool. | ![]() |
WASHINGTON SERVICE CORPS | |

The WSC was able to increase the staff for RVR by supporting an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer to work full-time for one year with the program. The position is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. | ![]() |
